Went singapore poly just now coz i signed up for a short course on chemistry experimental which was mainly because mrs chan told us they were teaching us make perfume. =DD

nadiah didn't know what time we were supposed to meet in sch to board a bus chartered to bring us to SP. and she didn't even bother to ask anyone. lols. at last her dad sent her straight there and eventually she reached there a few minutes before we did.


i didn't know that SP's quite old. i mean, i expected the labs to be HUGE, but it was smaller than ours. but there were alot of labs la..


yup. we had some refreshments before starting on anything then we split into two groups of about 20, one doing the paperweight and the other doing the perfume. nadiah, g and i did paperweight first and mimi did perfume.


doing the paperweight was quite fun. we learnt about the manufacture of polyester (which was what our paperweight was made of) and i love the decorating part. but i could use more time..my polyester dried too fast while nadiah's took soo long.. lols. at last mine turned out quite nice, but could use more glitter..




then we swapped. before we actually did our own perfume, the professor dr ong gave a short lecture or introduction on scents. didn't know there were many catagories of smells. and there are also scents extracted from animals. gross. dr ong told us about how the whale is gotten- from it's phlegm. ugh. then from civet cat, they got it from their anus. they would provoke the civet cat and the animal will produce some kind of substance in their anus. super gross. oh and he told us there was one time when he mentioned the civet cat, this student, dunno from what secodary school, immediately asked if he ws referring to the cat from which the world's MOST expensive coffee was made. the student said it tasted wonderful. what dr ong didn't tell her was how the coffee's made- they feed the civet cat coffee beans and they will shit out poo with partially digested coffee bens and it would be made into the world's most expensive coffee... lolllls.. and the student actually said it tasted wonderful.............

so anw, dr ong gave us to smell different scents. like over 10 different smells..... sooo many until i was getting really dizzy. i get headaches very easily la.. so when at last we could get on to doing our perfume, i was excited. first we did a concoction of the perfume Pleasure by Estee Lauder. yes, we actually MADE a branded perfume. cool right? then after that we could add drops of other scents. dr ong said to add a maximum of 2 types, but i added 3. or was it 4? i can't rmb, i was having fun. =)))) but i rmb i added orchid, mint and rose. yep. at last my perfume smell nice. i really love it. i'm very picky about perfumes coz most of them intantly make me dizzy, but mine doesn't, so i'm happy. =DDD

oh ya, i named it Glamour by Amirah.=DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

then when we're done, we got out dried paperweights. found out that the other group who did it after us had to wait for about an hour for theirs to dry otherwise theirs would be delivered to school. so, i'm glad i did the paperweight first. =D
