yesterday was the First National Creative Music Competiton at University Cultural Centre Theatre at NUS.. it was fun ah. when we first got there, we saw ping yi military band, or was it springfield? cuz both have the same uniform since both bands combined.. so ya....

then we went into the theatre to rehearse. there was cedar band and compassvale band sitting in there laa... scared of screwing up in front of them..

then it was cedar band's turn to rehearse, and they were okok la.. they played retro songs and their gimmicks and dances were rily cute, but rily not coordinated, and their playing was oso not that nice lol.

yep... so blahdeeda deedaa...

so at last, tkgssb din win the $1000 first prize for the creative band.. but we won the musical award and $200..and that means our sound was goood =DDDDD.. and our dances were, er, not soo good.. lol. cedar won appreciation of showing potential and $150, i think.

the winner of the $1000 prize money and the creative band award was Compassvale sec sch military band.. which was weird. i dun think there were rily good... the band played while a lot of others (who i dun think are part of the band) acted out in front. it looked quite weird la.. it was about this two kingdoms (let's called them A and B) fighting a war, then the princess of kingdom A and the prince (or was it knight?) of kingdom B fell in love with each other, when they're not suppose to, duh. then a figter of kingdom A wanted to kill that prince (or knight), but accidentally killed the princess. then the prince (or knight) killed himself upon seeing his girl dead.. (so it's like tragic love story la) then the kings of both kingdoms decided to make peace.. blaaaaahblah. the ppl acting as the fighters were like wearing short skirts (Yes! even the guys! too bad i couldn't take a picture since my cam phone makes a sound, which cant be turned off) and cardboard armours and helmets with long spears. it was all too weird la. somemore they fought sooo lembek (soft in malay)!

then another one was by yio chu kang band. they had a small number of people playing the instruments and the rest acted. the skit was DANG DAMN FUNNY LAAARRR!! especially the 'main character' who acted as the prince. he's such a great actor. the skit was abt this prince who was still single and at last his mom and dad (the king and queen, duh) picked a number of girls. first was this rily quiet girl who doesn't say anything (lol), so she was rejected, then this very rough girl, very macho, who scares even the king (loll) then this girl who keeps swaying to and fro (she actaully escaped from a mental hospital and had no idea how she got to the 'palace' (lolll). and obviously all three of them- rejected!
then left this one girl who is perfect and all, so they decided tt she's ok. but when the ball came, and she danced with the prince, she lifted her arm, and evrything stank. yep, B.O. so the prince ends up marrying the macho girl. lollll.

so yup. but my favourite FAVOURITE performance was by ping yi sec. they won the best showmanship, and i can see why. they played sooo well and put up a greeeeeeeeeeeaaat show ah! somemore got a lot of cute guys. hahah! yep. cant forget their performance.
